If you haven’t already start driving around in the areas you are wanting to live in. Drive by during different times of the day and at night so you can get a good idea of where you are wanting to be.

Make sure that you have down payment and closing costs saved up - closing costs are on average 3% of the total price of the loan amount, and depending on your financing you can have as little as 3% of the total home cost for your down payment.
